“I Feel the Boom Boom Boom” was written by Stephanie Leavell of Music for Kiddos. This video/activity uses my own arrangement of Stephanie’s song, shared with her permission.

Students explore different ways of playing rhythm sticks while singing along. Each verse introduces a different movement or sound—for example, clicking, tapping, scraping, etc.

Before using the video, I suggest singing the song a cappella while exploring different ways to use the rhythm sticks. Allow students to come up with their own ways to use the sticks and incorporate them into the song.

I always discuss safety expectations when we use rhythm sticks, even if we have used them several times before. I also make sure they are sitting with enough space in between each body so they don’t accidentally hit each other
