Trepak from the Nutcracker

Trepak (Russian Dance) from the Nutcracker is super fun piece to dance and move along to! This works great with scarves and also ribbon streamers. Some of these movement's are inspired by Artie Almeida's "Parachutes and Ribbons and Scarves, Oh My!" I highly recommend that book if you are looking for more activities like this! This is also good for demonstrating A and B section in the younger grades. I do this with Kindergarten, but it will work with any grade level.

For this video, to avoid copyright issues, I programmed a recording of Trepak using Spitfire’s BBC Symphony Orchestra library. It’s a collection of samples recorded from real players from the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Although it won’t sound like a real recording, modern orchestral sampling technology has come a long way, and sampled orchestral recordings are becoming more and more realistic!
