Ida Red
A classic American folk song about a quizzical girl with a bold imagination!
Ida Red is a traditional American folk song that comes from the old-time fiddle music traditions of the Ozark and Appalachian regions. Like many folk songs, it was passed down by ear rather than written by a single composer, and musicians would often create their own verses each time they performed it.
The lyric video features four verses and is ideal for singing and getting inspiration for creating new verses. The solfege and notation video supports musical literacy, allowing students to sing or play along while connecting sound to notation. The instrumental play-along videouses a visual, falling-note format so students can participate without needing to read music.
Additional resources are included to support flexible classroom use. A PDF score, MP3 recording, and accompaniment track are provided so you and your students can learn the song, perform it, and even create your own original verses.
