Chinese New Year Resources

Celebrate the Lunar New Year with music activities inspired by Chinese traditions. These videos feature traditional instruments, rhythms, and creative movement, offering students a meaningful and engaging way to explore Chinese culture through music.

Although Lunar New Year is celebrated in many countries around the world, my focus is on Lunar New Year celebrated in China, where I live and teach, as this resonates most with my own students. I”m always striving to appropriately share and celebrate the music of my host country.

In 2026, Chinese New Year begins on February 17 and marks the start of a 15-day celebration that concludes with the Lantern Festival. While the first day is the most widely recognized, celebrations and cultural traditions often extend across multiple days and weeks.
